AS3: Adding movie clips and tracking each other

I have a simple problem that just doesn’t make sense to me. I have 2 movieclips, one called “green” and one called “yellow”. What I’m trying to do is have the “green” movie clip fade away and then disappear, and then when it disappears the “yellow” movie clip dissapears.
Here’s my code for when I create the “green” movie clip.

I’ve tried different ways of adding a getChildByName type functionality into the “green_click” function but I just get a “null” back at the _parent function.
