* Vector layer
Any shape or path that you create with the Lasso tool (the method described in the next section) is a vector layer that can be edited and adjusted. Vector layers are visible in all states, whether they’re on top or on a background layer. They don’t fill the space they occupy when you draw on them.
In contrast to vector layers, the pixels in the lower layers are part of the image itself and not independent objects. (The lower layers are also referred to as the bitmap layers, as they contain one or more bitmap images.)
When you create a layer, the changes you make to the layer are also applied to all the pixels that are part of that layer (including the pixels in the layer underneath). Vector layers are independent of the image underneath them; however, if you use the Move tool to move a vector layer, that movement is reflected in the pixels in the layer.
* Bitmap layers
A bitmap is a raster image that’s created from the pixels of the pixels of a photograph or other graphic. Adobe Photoshop gives you four bitmap layers: the Background layer, the Layer 1 (or Foreground) layer, the Layer 2 (or Visible) layer, and the Layer 3 (or Mask) layer. (All these layers are covered in detail in Chapter 11.)
A bitmap layer’s pixels can be edited, but not as easily as with vector layers.
Filters are special effects that you can apply to a layer, a path, or a selection of any other object.
* Gradient fill
Gradient fill is a special type of filter that lets you control the color gradient of a pattern, such as a stripe or a repeat pattern.
* Layer mask
Layer mask is a special type of filter that lets you control the transparency or color of a layer or path in an image. To work with it, you can combine it with either the Dodge or Burn tool.
In this book, you’ll see how to use the Adobe Photoshop layers in action to learn to use Photoshop’s primary functions. You’ll also see how to adjust the opacity, transparency, and color of layer masks and other layers. In addition, you’ll get to see how to create vector layers, bitmap layers, and filters.
Adobe Photoshop is a powerful and widely used bitmap image editor that serves as the gold standard for the creation and manipulation of images. And you don’t just have to be an artist or graphics designer to use the software: The average office worker may as well be a Photoshop power user because they will need to create and manipulate images across a variety of platforms.
Getting started with Photoshop is quick and easy
Getting started with Photoshop is quick and easy. Whether you are a novice user or an experienced professional, the first few tutorials are a great place to start.
An important tip for first time users is to start with a completely blank canvas and open as many other programs as you can handle. That way you won’t overwhelm yourself and begin to feel like you are doing tasks that are impossible with only one tool.
Photoshop tutorials range from beginning basics to advanced editing. They include how-to guides as well as step-by-step examples. While Photoshop’s tutorials are an awesome resource, they have their drawbacks. They require a bit of Photoshop knowledge. And because Photoshop has so many ways to edit an image, it’s often quite easy to get lost or overwhelmed.
Adobe Photoshop online tutorials and guides
For beginners and people with less computer experience, Photoshop tutorials are an excellent way to learn. The best online tutorials are those that give step-by-step instructions with a lot of real world examples to make them practical for the novice user.
More professional or advanced users may want to look for online Photoshop tutorials and guides. These are, of course, much less hands on as compared to the tutorials found on the web but they include some of the online tutorials with more pro tips.

If you have specific requests, questions, concerns or have something that you would like to have mentioned in this article about Photoshop, then please let us know.
Every so often, Adobe releases updates for their products and this can throw people for a loop as they can be fairly techy and have to update their software. If this happens to you, it is good to have a catch-up plan for the time spent not using the product you purchased.
A version for everything
Adobe Photoshop may be the premier program for use in your graphic design or even for editing images on your phone, but there are alternatives.
First, if you are into photography, Adobe Photoshop Elements is an excellent alternative. It
Do You Know Your HTML?
I received a rather bewildering message from a respected contact who thought the site had gone down.
Once there, she couldn’t find the “Buy Now” buttons and the site failed to load. She explained that she is not great with technology, and has never been taught to use computers or search engines.
I’ve seen many who are equally inexperienced, but unfortunately because the web is so easy to use, many have been savvy enough to keep it simple.
Maybe you are not so ignorant. Maybe you’ve been told that this site is hard to use. Or maybe you think you know your way around, but realize that you have not ever logged into your member area before.
If any of these describe you, consider this site an educational opportunity. If you continue to use the site, you will eventually master its many features.
The problem for them, which affects me too, is that often a day will go by and they might accidentally say something foolish on the site. And then when their family member tries to communicate with them on Facebook, they are too embarrassed to tell their friends they have been writing on-line all week.
So, if you are not sure if you’re ready to learn some basics of HTML, there are many sites you can visit that teach HTML. I also offer a course to get you up to speed in just a few short weeks.
There are also sites that will teach you HTML by yourself for a small fee.
In addition, any style sheet that you use should include an instruction manual that contains the link to the site where you can access the instruction manual. Once you’ve installed the style sheet, you can delete the link.
The bottom line is, you’ll be reading this article to learn some basics of HTML. Then, in just a few weeks, you’ll be one step ahead of everybody!
HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language. It is a set of instructions that let computers tell what to put on a web page.
The Computer Does The Writing.
When you go to a web site, you are using the “Computer” as a writing device. As you go to different pages on the web site, the Computer writes it down by identifying links and pictures and so on. It “understands”

Perhaps if we define those (and other custom) hash_fn’s in a new
“namespace” we can get some better feedback.

In the context of xmlrpc-epsilon, it means that an XMLRPC client
is requesting a name from a server.

And a socket is defined by the socket() API. No I don’t believe
so. And in fact, the socket API is at the bottom of the
xmlrpc-epsilon.h file which is specifically generated for
epsilon to emulate a socket interface.

I’m thinking a dummy “bind” method should be added to
xmlrpc_client.C to catch this error.

While the price for the European Union’s top bureaucrats in Brussels seems to be skyrocketing each day, the cost to them of life in London, or Brussels, or elsewhere is less dependent on their salary. The EU has confirmed that 27 of its most senior political appointees — the commissioners and presidents of the European Union’s various institutions — can claim travel expenses while living in their second homes.
This means that they are not accountable to the peoples of Europe. They can be paid even when flying back to Brussels from London to see their children or not even bothering to do this. Instead they can spend as much as they like in their second homes. While the EU Commission would have
