Setting the value of a JFormattedTextField in Java

Okay so what I am trying to do is pretty simple. I want to create a JTextField that has a currency symbol in it but when you enter text in it, I want to change it to how much you input in the JTextField. So for example if you enter 10000 in the text field, the value should be 1,000,000 and if you enter 12,34 it should be 12,350. What I have right now isn’t working out for me. I have two JFormattedTextFields and one of them is formatted like the other and it is formatted with a newDecimalFormat. In my other class, I get the input from the user and pass it to this class and then I create the JFormattedTextField and try to set the value. I tried using the setText() method but the value only changes when you click off the text field and then click back in but I also tried using getText() and setText() in my other class and also tried using the getText() method with a variable but that isn’t working either. Any help would be appreciated.
