The incident happened in the city of Borlänge in the region of Dalarna, which is home to the second largest football club in the country, FC Köpenhamn.
The boy, who was a pupil at the same school, texted the image to another male student at the school. When asked to remove the photo, the teenager uploaded it to Snapchat.
The schoolgirl’s mother then alerted the police, who traced the Snapchat user and arrested the boy. The schoolgirl was also arrested but was later released.
“The boys reportedly took the photo and had it sent via Snapchat. Then he [the student] sent it to the girl. This is a serious violation of the sexual integrity of the girl,” said Monika Svensson, spokesperson for the region of Dalarna.
The schoolgirl and the boy are 16 and 17 respectively, and Svensson said the case was a “learning experience” for both of them.
Svensson told Swedish news outlet Aftonbladet that the boy had confessed to taking the photo and passing it on.
Speaking to the broadcaster about the incident, the boy’s mother said he “had no idea” that what he was doing could be considered “a crime”.
