AutoCAD is a software application for the designing, drafting, and visualizing of two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) objects. Most recently, AutoCAD allows users to create both architectural and mechanical designs, either sequentially, or by using interactive drawing tools. AutoCAD gives designers and engineers a means to create 2D and 3D drawings. A “cartooning” tool, AutoCAD allows a user to easily draw geometric shapes such as circles, lines, arcs, splines, triangles, and more. History
The AutoCAD software was originally developed by student teams at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Carnegie Mellon University. The first version of AutoCAD was developed in 1982, and the software was originally named Auto-CAD and distributed for academic use only. In 1983, Autodesk, a division of Unisys, purchased the intellectual property of Auto-CAD, later renaming the software to Autodesk AutoCAD. The company released the first commercial version of AutoCAD in 1984.
Autodesk continues to distribute AutoCAD through its website, with updates available from AutoCAD User’s Guide, and the AutoCAD Blog.
AutoCAD, or AutoCAD LT, was first released in 1984 as a desktop app running on IBM PC compatible computers with graphics hardware capable of 640×480 pixels resolution. Before AutoCAD was introduced, most commercial CAD programs ran on mainframe computers or minicomputers, with each CAD operator (user) working at a separate graphics terminal. AutoCAD is also available as mobile and web apps.
In January 2011, Autodesk announced that it would release a more affordable version of AutoCAD for smaller businesses and hobbyists, called AutoCAD LT. This software is free to use with a trial period of 30 days. AutoCAD LT does not have all the same features of AutoCAD Standard, but it supports more common use cases, such as creating 2D drawings, viewports, and it is optimized for use with a mouse.

Licensing
Licenses can be either perpetual, annual or monthly. Perpetual licenses are often paid on a per-seat basis. Annual licenses are often paid on a per-use basis and may be subject to a termination fee. Monthly licenses can be acquired in either a set-up-and-forget arrangement, in which the user can use the software without paying monthly (also known as a service option), or pay-as-you-go model. AutoCAD LT is licensed in a similar manner.
Implementation of the license model is provided by the system’s Automation Manager. If the installation completes successfully, the license is registered in the license file. If the user attempts to open a drawing without a license, the system can prompt the user to purchase a license from the license server, or to temporarily enable a “trial mode” license.
Version numbers
AutoCAD uses the concept of a version number, which is included in the product’s name. The current version of AutoCAD is 2012.
AutoCAD was originally developed to run on MS-DOS. When the product was ported to Windows, the application was given a name with the version number 7.1. In 1998, when the product was ported to Windows NT, a new application name was adopted, with version number 9.1. When Windows 95 was released in 1995, the application name was changed again, to AutoCAD LT. This version was only available for Windows 95 and was an operating system-based, single-user application. The Windows 98 version of AutoCAD LT was called AutoCAD LT 3D.
The Windows version of AutoCAD LT 3D was different from AutoCAD LT for Windows (2008). This was a result of the application split to two products: AutoCAD LT 3D (which is the current name of AutoCAD LT for Windows) and AutoCAD Architectural. Autocad Architectural was a 3D architectural design package; however, it was discontinued in 2017. For AutoCAD Architectural, the license was changed from perpetual to an annual license and a new 3D version of AutoCAD Architectural was also released, which has a different version number from AutoCAD Architectural. For 3D BIMs, the CAD Password must be the same as the value in the.cad.file. If the CAD Password is not the same as the value in the.cad.file, then you must follow the next step.
For 3D BIMs, the Filter value must be ‘3D’.
If you have a.cad.file, open it and then press the ENTER key.
Press OK to complete the import.
Uninstall the app
Press the DELETE key on your mobile device.
