Basic Elements work with two types of images: RAW (with RAW format) and JPG. With RAW, you can adjust the color, contrast, and exposure of the image in order to make it more aesthetically pleasing.

RAW image is a RAW file with no compression. It is the only type of file allowed for professional-quality photos taken by professional photographers with high-end cameras. RAW files are only used in high-end cameras like Nikon and Canon. They are best when your camera has a programmable button that allows it to take a photo in RAW format. RAW photographs are best-suited for high-end printing like landscapes, HDR images, and HDR composites.

JPG is the standard format for regular digital cameras and digital photo frames. JPG is a compressed file that loses details of your image as compared to RAW. RAW is preferred if you are looking to get the maximum quality from your photo.

When you import a RAW file into Photoshop Elements, you will notice there are no options for you to customize or make changes to the color and contrast of the image. This is because a RAW file is meant for professionals. You can use RAW only with RAW importing tools.

For your RAW photos, you should first uncheck the box that says “Create a new PSD file.”

For linear classifiers the effect should be zero, as the data transformed through a diagonal matrix are just a linear combination of the original data:

In such a case, the classifier would transform the data through a linear filter matrix, usually as a preprocessing step before doing any classification. For linear classifiers the diagonal matrix can be thought as a transition matrix, where each row represent a score.
The transformed data are:

Where $W$ is a vector representation of the score, and $X$ represents the original data.
If $W$ is a vector of random numbers, than the transformed data should be just a linear combination of the original data. For example, a diagonal matrix of 1’s would transform the data just by scaling them.
