It is a widely accepted concept that CD4^+^ T-cell polarization is crucial in mediating the immune response to *Leishmania* infection. Furthermore, the effects of E2/S-treated DCs on Th1 and Th2 polarizations are dose-dependent, suggesting that the effects of E2/S might be mediated through its direct effects on DCs. The results of immunization with E2/S-treated DCs suggest that DC immunization might be a promising strategy for *Leishmania* infection. In fact, it has been reported that when DCs were loaded with antigen and then re-injected with the antigen, they could be captured by host T-cells at the sites of infection ([@B36]), resulting in T-cell stimulation and a polarized effector response.
