Custom GridView – Missing Data

I am working with a custom Gridview and running into a problem. I need some assistance in figuring out why my list is missing data. I have a viewmodel that holds a list of Item which contains a List. When a User opens the page the first gridview displays the correct data, but when the user clicks on a row to edit the data, the data does not populate the Contact list in the Item.
I am sure it is some trivial problem, but I am new to WPF and C# so I am having some trouble figuring out where the problem is. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Here is my viewmodel class:
