Microorganisms that are intrinsically resistant to antibiotics have become a leading cause for treatment failure in various infectious diseases. Recurrences of common infections caused by such microorganisms are reported in the literature every day. More specifically, the spectrum of resistance to the antimicrobial agents are increasing and various resistant microorganisms have been isolated. Particularly, drug-resistant microorganisms have become very predominant in treating infectious diseases caused by infectious diarrhea, urinary tract infections, pneumonia and many other diseases. As described above, there is an urgent need to develop novel antibacterial compounds against drug-resistant microorganisms.
