Emoji creator Max Bond of MaxBondDesign wrote “Although Photoshop has existed for a long time, its design was primarily targeted at graphic designers, photographers, and web designers, who were used to the actions that a typical graphic designer or photographer might need to perform to manipulate images. Photoshop became a popular photo editing and graphic design application for casual users because it offered all the features necessary to create the kinds of things that those users wanted to create, such as portraits, color adjustments, and filters. However, if you needed to do more advanced image editing or design work, you still needed access to a more powerful and comprehensive set of tools. Photoshop Elements offered many of the same tools that Photoshop had, but with a simple interface. Photoshop Elements users could do all of the things that Photoshop users could do, but they did it with a more streamlined user interface. More importantly, Photoshop Elements had the tools that those casual users were looking for to build and edit their own simple graphic designs. With Photoshop Elements 9, Adobe created the first version of Photoshop designed with a new user interface aimed at casual users and a new set of easy-to-understand tools for creative professionals. Photoshop Elements was designed as an easier-to-use version of Photoshop with simple tasks arranged in graphical blocks, which was similar to how older version of Elements had simplified their user interface. If Elements had been around when Photoshop was first released, I’m sure that the designers of Photoshop would have adapted elements from Photoshop Elements to make it more accessible for the casual user. Photoshop Elements 9 does just that.” We will be adding more types of tutorials, so stay tuned! Blogger Interview: Not In My Backyard A few weeks ago, I interviewed Johnny Sansone, the lead singer of Not In My Backyard, a New York City band whose song “Born Under the Sign of Alright” appeared on the current, Grammy nominated episode of “Glee.” When I asked the band’s bassist and co-songwriter, Jason Wainwright, how the performance went, his answer is what prompted me to ask for another opportunity for a visit. “I don’t even really know what to say. It was…a bit of a blur,” Wainwright recalled. “We have a ways to go.” But the NYC-born band has progressed far beyond a local, secret punchline. It has managed to attract attention from the public media and from industry insiders, as seen by the success of its NPR song, “Crazy,” which was performed on NBC’s Today Show and on the third season of “Glee.” Wainwright also opened up about the current trajectory of the band, as well as the strain it puts on the members, from their manager to an ever-changing line-up. From all of the band members’ different experiences, Wainwright came to the conclusion that Not In My Backyard isn’t a musical project. “[I]t’s not about creating music, it’s about creating art. Every day, we create something artful for other people. As long as you’re doing that, you’re doing what you’re supposed to be doing.” Click through the gallery for a condensed version of the interview: What do you mean when you say Not In My Backyard isn’t a musical project? We try not to say it’s a musical project because it’s kind of alienating to a lot of people. If we had to fit into one category, it’s a band. But the people we know would probably identify it as a tribute band. It’s a band because we have four-man troupes where we can practice a song for five to eight hours a day for three to four weeks, but it’s a tribute band because we don’t really write our own songs. We’re more influenced by bands that have come before us. Do you think the point of a tribute band is to emulate others who have come before you? It’s not about creating music, it’s about creating art. Every day, we create something artful for other people. As
Syria activist shot dead in Aleppo 21 May 2012 The Syrian Revolution 2011 (SR2011) Information Center reported that a leading activist from the Syrian section of the youth organization SR2011 was fatally shot in the city of Aleppo on Tuesday, 21 May. The activist was named as Azad Kamal. The activist, who is a member of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) in the northern city, reportedly had only one hour to live before he was allegedly killed by the Takfiri terrorist group the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) in the city of Aleppo. The SR2011 Information Center expressed its condolences to the family of the activist. It is believed that the targeted killing of Kamal has been carried out as retaliation for the Syrian Democratic Union Party (PDS) activists who were killed at the scene of clashes between the Syrian Free Army and the Takfiri extremists. This was the second death of a leading political figure from SR2011. Basim Amari was the Chair of the SR2011 Electoral Commission, and was killed at the time of the election in December 2011. He had previously announced his resignation from his position when he realized that the elections would not take place as scheduled, given that the elections were postponed from October 2011. The latest death of an SR2011 activist has led to a split within the organization over who will take on such positions. In an indication of the divisions within the organization, the SR2011 Supreme Council issued a statement expressing their condolences to Kamal’s family. They stated that they were also shocked over the assassination of Azad Kamal, as they were sure that he was following the path of justice. The statement also blamed the “repeated attacks” against SR2011, “the Arab left and freedom-loving Syrian people” over the problems arising from the postponement of the election. For its part, SR2011 has accused the regime of not being serious about combating terrorist organizations in Syria. The organization said that it considers it a serious crime to deny the struggle of the Syrian people to remove a criminal regime, and that those who spill Syrian blood should be treated as terrorists. SR2011 has recalled the military figure Major Ihab Idris, who was kidnapped by the regime in August 2011. It is believed that he is being held in the hands of the regime forces in Damascus.1. One of the best things about the game is the stellar selection of gamepads that you can use. I was quite happy with my Logitech Rumblepad 2, however there are now several options that are available for those looking for something a little different. The best gamepad you can get for the game is the Logitech Rumblepad F310. It has a large and comfortable grip to it, similar to the one found in the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Dead Space 2. It has two large rocker pads as well as two shoulder buttons. It is the perfect game
